Bebe, Beatrice Maria Adelaide Marzia Vio Grandis, was born in Venice on 4th March 1997.
At the age of 11, she contracted a fulminating meningitis, which caused her the amputation of the arms below the elbow and the legs below the knee.
After her illness, one of her greatest wishes was to be able to return to her beloved fencing. She succeeded with the art4sport ONLUS Association, founded in 2009 together with her parents, and a team of specialised orthopaedic technicians.
Bebe is the only athlete in the world to fence without her armed arm, which is the one holding the foil.
